The design of the Readiness Center is developed in response to the existing elongated site with significant topography change. The exterior design of the facility uses various types of masonry to create a pleasing appearance and ease of maintenance. The functional arrangement of the spaces is developed based on the diagram provided by the National Guard and meetings with the home unit. The Assembly Hall extends beyond the face of the building to break-up the overall massing of the building. This extension also allows the assembly hall to have its own entrance and exit that is independent of the other areas of the building. By doing this, the readiness centers' functional areas are easily secured from the assembly hall when used by the public. The administration and unit storage office access to these spaces. The unheated storage facility is attached to the building and located adjacent to the unit storage with individual access as a response to the units desire to quickly load out when required. One of the classroom spaces was located adjacent to the kitchen to enhance its use as a smaller scale banquet room and increase the potential for public use of the facility.
