The Eagle fans watched in the newly renovated M.M. Roberts Stadium as USM won over University of Louisiana-Lafayette in the first home game of the season on August 30, 2008.

The expansion includes 34 private sky box suites and a complete concourse connection with u-shaped addition, expansion of the east club seating and food and concessions throughout the stadia. A roof-top booster club patio pavilion was added above the suite level. Additional academic space has been added in the southern end-zone.
